Diagnosis of Chronic Low Back Pain

If your back pain has been present for more than 12 weeks, you should see if you can get a diagnosis for chronic back pain. There might be an underlying condition. You’ll likely be prescribed self-care treatments such as hot and cold therapies, likely some pain medication to dull the pain, and a limit to the amount of work that the back does. If you have back pain, it’s especially important to take all the steps you can during the self-care stage in order to see if your back pain will improve. Even if your back starts to feel better, you should still continue with the self-care treatment until you see your doctor again.
